I thought this might be fun! I was a senior dating Barbara, who was a junior.
Barbara didn't have a curfew, and I did. I felt I was missing out on something!
One night I sat down with my parents and told them I always had to leave the
parties early so I could drive Barbara home and still get home before 11:00. My
dad responded this way," Son, when you get there the party starts, when you
leave the party's over." I have a 4 year old, and believe me, I will use
the same statement one day! I hopes it works as well with her, as it did with
me! Any of ya'll have any of these kind of memories to share?

Well this one worked for me "As long as you live in my house, this is the
way you are gonna do it!!!" After graduation, I landed an apprenticeship
and some of the guys I worked with all went in on a room at Termite Manor, the
old complex off Balboa road on the way to the limits. It cost $12 a month and my
share was a whopping $4. I remember the Jamboree the next year had some
political unrest and I was told that I could not venture to the Atlantic side.
Sooooo... off to the Jamboree I went, Hey someone left down there had to carry
on the tradition for us all, right? After some time in the Termite Manor, my mom
and I came to "an agreement" and I moved in for another year or two
before my transfer to Gatun. Never had kids of my own, and as a schoolteacher, I
have yet to find a line that works with HS/College age kids. But I will let you
know when I do!! :) dave

Found my old Curundu Jr High School yearbooks last night by accident..... some
of you who leave messages on this sure did look awful young. My husbands only
comment was, why was your dress so short? HA! I want to know Joel, did you live
where the water got deep in Panama, one of them either 7th or 8th grade had your
pants up to your ankles. you were standing by Steve Sowder looking all smug!
real fashionable & trendy as we say in KY.... I really enjoyed looking at
those pics..got some really good laughs.I am sure we all still feel that young
at heart anyway!!

Ah yes, I remember being fashion challenged while at Curundu Jr. High. As for
the high water pants, I remember my Mom telling me that "no one will
notice" - Yeah. Right! I don't plan to make the same mistake with my kids.
I'll have to dig out my yearbooks and take a look. I do however clearly remember
the short skirts. Fashion challenged? Yes. Unobservant? No.
